Elsie Heape Thompson

	Elsie Heape Thompson, 106, of Belleville, formerly of the Elkville area, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2000 at the Calvin Johnson Care Center in Belleville.
	Elsie was a retired school teacher and was part owner of Thompson Restaurant in Elkville.  She was the oldest member of the Elkville United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the DeSoto Eastern Star Lodge.  She was a republican committeewoman for many years.
	She was born March 25, 1894 in Perry County, the daughter of Ezra and Abbie (Porter) Heape.  She married John George Thompson on June 16, 1920 at Pinckneyville and he passed away November 30, 1972.
	 She is survived by granddaughter- Abigail Thomas of Belleville, Grandson- DAvid Thomas and wife Nancy of Belleville, Great Grandson- Andrew David Thomas of Belleville, Great Granddaughter- Lauren Caudle of Belleville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one Dau.- Mercia Lou Thomas, one Bro.- Harold Heape.
	Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 21 at the Parrish Cemetery at Vergennes with Rev. Jay Gunn officiating.
	Friends called from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 20 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
	Interment was in the Parrish Cemetery at Vergennes.
